SHAH ALAM: Turkish armoured vehicle manufacturer, FNSS, has been awarded with a contract from the Turkish Land Forces (TLF) to supply and deliver twenty-five of the Pars Alpha 8X8 and 6X6 variants. The contract is part of the TLF new generation armoured vehicles programme which allowed for the serial production of the new Pars Alpha.

From FNSS press release dated February 24 2025:

The order includes serial production of 6×6 & 8×8 New Generation PARS ALPHA Armoured Vehicle configurations for the TLF Mechanized Armoured Units. In the first phase of the program, FNSS will deliver PARS ALPHA 8×8 Anti-Armour Squad and Armoured Recovery variants. In scope of the program, FNSS will also produce 6×6 variants. PARS ALPHA 6×6 command post variants will be configured with advanced mission equipment. FNSS PARS ALPHA 8×8 prototype was able to successfully emerge from an intensive competition environment. Program was awarded after comprehensive field tests carried out by SSB and MOD.

“With this new vehicle, we have combined 35 years of knowledge, user experience and engineering to create the latest generation vehicle in its class,” said Deputy Chairman of FNSS Board of Directors, Oğuz Çarmıklı. “We rightfully earned our place with superior success from field tests carried out by SSB. And finally, we have reached the stage of launching the New Generation Vehicles Program, which we will produce PARS ALPHA vehicles for our Land Forces.”

The total number of vehicles for this initial order will be 25 vehicles. TLF is planning to acquire over 2000 vehicles with additional orders and number of PARS ALPHA vehicles are expected to expand over time.

You can read more on the Pars Alpha here. Despite the positive take by FNSS on the contract, it is still early days for the Pars Alpha. That said the serial production will be a boost for export sales. Though it is unlikely soon for Malaysia at least as the requirements for armoured vehicles as posted previously will be the HMAV and HMLTV.

  1. If there is a requirement for 6×6 vehicles,Pars Alpha should fit the bill.
With frontal mount engine just like the merkava,it really gives extra protection and confidence to the driverfrom frontal attack.
Commander sitting beside the driver, troops have less constricted movements, verses the engine at the side in the previous Pars.
More cabin space for xtra cargo even for 6×6 vehicles.
All in all Im for Pars Alpha,if ATM or PDRM(polis hutan) are sorting for 6×6 vehicle for their usage.

  2. The pars alpha solves one problem, but creates another.

Gone is the narrow pathway connecting the driver’s compartment with the larger rear compartment. It is usable for the thinnest of drivers.

But as the engine is now moved to the front of the vehicle, the driver now sits in the middle of the thing, between the second and third wheel.

The panoramic periscopes are still there, but i don’t think you can see the road from such far back. IMO the driver will have to fully depend on the front mounted cameras. If that is so, I would like to have a bigger multifunction screen in front of the driver to display the camera feeds.

  3. When are they bringing back the IAG Guardians for 5 KAD? Taking such a long time to decide the HMAV.

  4. Currently 5KAD is equipped with about 18x Lipanbara (Chaiseri First Win) MRAP. We spent about RM7 milion on each of those Lipanbaras, compared to less than RM2.5 million for each IAG Guardians (those with MALBATT UNIFIL Guardians is actually FOC traded-in with expired starbursts)

I am all for 5 of the KAD Cavalry regiments to be of the same quantity and type of vehicles. If the decision is to be a mix of Gempita IFV30+LCT30 and HMLTV then all 5 Cavalry regiments should be organised along the same lines.

If we are going to buy Batch 2 of the AV8 Gempita, IMO the minimum it would be is for Tentera Darat to form a 2nd Gempita Mechanized Infantry Battalion (the 1st and current one is 19RAMD). So Tentera darat could have one Gempita Mechanised Infantry Battalion in Sabah (19RAMD) and another one in Sarawak. This would consist mainly of the IFV25 variant. IMO the quantity (including little topups of other variants) should be around 100 vehicles. As all the IP, toolings, factory etc etc for the AV8 Gempita has been paid for, the cost should be wholly just for the vehicle itself. So the logical cost should be just around USD300-350 million mark.

  5. They at td will not getting any additional armoured vehicles anytime soon..In fact,Td wants so many things but still not granted like SPH.Even Adnan and MIFV modernization kinda quite down now.Additional LG MK2 would be logical but instead because of the so called ‘TURKISH CONNECTION’ td will get the boran 105mm gun, which in all honesty a lil downgrade compared to LG gun.Even our kedahs will get turkiyefication soon if rumours to be true

  6. >They at td will not getting any additional armoured vehicles anytime soon

How about you save it until LIMA first

  7. Yes we have no idea yet on what priorities does the leaders of Tentera Darat wants to put for the next RMK13 2026-2030 budget.

Whatever it is, i would prefer Tentera Darat to spend on things that could expand and increase the warfighting capability of the land forces, not on replacing existing capabilities (such as getting CAR816). Priority should also be placed on things that could reinforce the overall malaysian defence capability in securing our resources in our maritime zones.

IMO Tentera Darat spending for brand new equipments for RMK13 should prioritize :
    – shore-based anti-ship missile capability (that could be dual use for land and maritime long range strikes) for Briged Artileri Roket
    – 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer
    – tactical MALE UAV systems for STA / ISTAR.
    – precision fuse for 155mm artillery (M1156 PGK or turkiye equivalent)
    – topup existing ATGM capability (Karaok, NLAW)

Other priorities, but can be fulfilled with getting used equipments
    – medium lift helicopter for PUTD (used Blackhawk from Korea, USA)
    – top up G5 155mm towed howitzers (ex Qatar)
    – additional KIFV/MIFV to for Medan Timur (used Korea)
    – intrim CUAS capability (K263 and KM167 VADS used Korea)
    – intrim GAPU MERAD capability (6x HAWK XXI batteries used Turkiye)

  8. The Guardians were not gotten FOC even if it was traded for the Starbursts. How do I know this? The Auditor-General faulted the Defence Ministry for not putting RWS on them and as a result we did not get the full compensation from the UN.

I believed the UN just used the lack of the RWS as not to pay for the amount we asked for them for buying the Guardians to replace the Condors. The UN will surely know the ex-factory price of the Guardians and surely they will not pay our full fat payment for it.

  9. @hulubalang “Yes we have no idea yet on what priorities does the leaders of Tentera Darat wants to put for the next RMK13 2026-2030 budget.”

They don’t even get any of their wishlist during the first DWP this RMK

  10. Please reread the audit

The auditor general is angry the UN reimbursed the use of guardian at APC rate, not the more expensive IFV rate, and considers it a “loss” to malaysia.

It is like someone complains that you lose 10k in compensation because your car is a base model myvi, not the advance top end model.

  11. Still not anytime soon right..that tender for hmltv for unifil already sign or not..or still in tender process..we heard this hmav, hmltv, condor replacement for some time now..about time we get it and not only talk..how about that scorpion replacement, mifv and adnan upgrade project? Huh? Maybe thats why we are lagging

  12. The Guardians for UNIFIL is basically free (traded-in with starburst missiles), but the monetary value that is stated for the 9 vehicles is RM45 million. That puts the value for each at RM5 million. Which is when compared to the price PDRM pay for their own Guardians, is 2x the normal price.

    Some of the known prices

    – Lipanbara RM7 million (RM140 million for 20)
    – Guardian UNIFIL RM5 million (RM45 million for 9)
    – Guardian PDRM RM2.4 million
    – Ejder Yalcin Panthera UNIFIL RM9.5 million (RM190 million for 20)
    – Chaiseri First Win USD500k (thai marines contract)
    – Tarantula RM?? million

  13. In case someone here forgotten, the then army chief said the main procurement program for army in 2024 are HMLTV and HMAV.Care to elaborate then? Or just all talk?..In case you lost we are well into 2025 now ha ha

  14. If TDM ever gets batch 2 of Gempitas, hope that they will get SPAAG valiants with turrets like Skyranger or Korkut, felt that it will be useful against drones

  15. Much ado about nothing as we arent going to get Gempita batch 2 anytime soon. HMAV & HMLTV specs too low for such a vehicle either. If it was the 6×6 mix plan then its possible but alas…

  16. @firdaus
Its all hot air,as you know the working style of the old school malay thinktank, they are undecisive what is good for their pocket rather than for the ATM.
Just look at every ATM project or procurement nothing is on time, within budget or good in quantity or quality for ATM.
The procuremt will only be sped up if something happen to malaysia, other then that malays are with their usual attitude tak ape lah….
