SHAH ALAM; The Home Ministry has reissued a tender for the supply of batons and handcuffs for use of its various agencies on March 28. The tender was originally published in September, last year but was cancelled as usual with no explanation.

Check on the latest tender revealed that the indicative cost is RM30.1 million, RM3 million more than the one cancelled.

This is probably the reason the original tender was cancelled as the specifications for both remained similar. Enforcement agencies under the ministry is namely, police, prisons, imigration and the coast guard. The new tender is valid until April 28 which means that the tender is open for 31 days.

The winning bidder will also need to train 20 personnel from the agencies under the ministry. It must be noted that the five and three handcuffs are usually used by the immigration while moving and transporting illegal immigrants.
