SHAH ALAM: The Procurement division of the Defence Ministry has issued a twenty-one-day tender for the supply, delivery and commissioning of six tactical insertion craft or jet skis for the Army.
The jet skis will be used for the Special Service Group or the Grup Gerak Khas. The public specifications of the tender.
There is a requirement for Tactical Insertion Craft (TIC) to enhance the tasks of the Special Service Group (SSG). The TIC shall be used by SSG personnel for quick approach to the objective. It shall be able to maneuvers tactically in maritime and riverine environment and Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) missions
It must be noted that despite the specifications above, jet-skis or any other small watercraft are only good in fine weather. Although GGK is a known user of the jet skis, little pictures of these waterborne vehicles are in the public domain. That said it is likely that the new ones being sought will be a variant of the Sea Doo GX/XT jet skis which are operational with Paskal and Marine police. I stand to be corrected of course.
Meanwhile, the tender for four royal escort vehicles will be close next week on January 14. The tender was published on December 17 last year. The vehicles being sought are part of the support vehicles sought by the Army in 2024.
PEROLEHAN MEMBEKAL DAN MENGHANTAR KENDERAAN PENGIRING DIRAJA – KENDERAAN SOKONGAN TENTERA DARAT
The royal escort vehicles are the ones used for ceremonies involving the King such the Merdeka and colours parade. They are 4X4 vehicles which has been modified with an open top to escort the King’s vehicles.
As for the slew of the support vehicles tenders, checks on Eperolehan website today showed that the contract for the medium recovery vehicles (MRV). The tender for the six MRV was published on July 18 and closed on August 27.
High Point Worldwide Sdn Bhd was awarded the LOA of RM29.7 million for the MRV. The MRV sought is 6X6 vehicles in the 10 to 20 tonnes category. As High Point is delivering five Scania 60-tonne tank transporters for another tender published in 2022, I am guessing that they will also be delivering another Scania truck for this one. I stand to be corrected of course.
