SOV Cleared For Air Transport

Out we go, SOV rushing out from the Hercules.

SHAH ALAM: The Cendana Auto Special Operations Vehicle (SOV), it appears, have been cleared for tactical air landing operations from RMAF C130 Hercules transporter. The SOV is operated by the GGK replacing the previous Vamtac SOV for such operations. The new SOV was delivered to GGK last year.

The initial operating capability of the SOV was part of the air mobility tactical operations exercise conducted by RMAF together with the Armed Forces Special Operations units conducted from February 27 to March 7. RMAF used its transport fleet from the Hercules, A400Ms, CN-235 and EC725 and AW139 helicopters for the exercise.

RMAF said the SF units from Paskau, GGK and RMN together with paratroopers and riggers from 10th Para Brigade was involved in the exercise.

𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐌𝐓𝐎𝐏 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐉𝐈 𝐊𝐄𝐔𝐏𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐀𝐍 𝐃𝐀𝐍 𝐊𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐀 𝐀𝐓𝐌 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐀 𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐌
Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) telah melaksanakan latihan bersepadu menggabungkan pasukan dari Tentera Darat Malaysia (TDM) dan Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) dalam latihan Air Mobility Tactical Operation (AMTOP) Siri 1/24. Latihan ini telah dikoordinasi dengan jayanya oleh Markas Wilayah Udara 1 (MAWILUD 1) melibatkan beberapa kawasan operasi latihan di sekitar Kuantan, Gong Kedak, dan Terendak.
AMTOP Siri 1/24 tahun ini telah melaksanakan pelbagai bentuk latihan seperti “Air Drop”, “Roll Duck”, “Deck Landing Training”, “Tactical Air Landing Operation” dan “Military Free Fall”. Kesemua latihan yang dilaksanakan adalah untuk menguji dan menentukan tahap kecekapan semua elemen yang terlibat dan seterusnya untuk meningkatkan keupayaan dan keberkesanan anak kapal dan pasukan khas ATM (Darat, Laut dan Udara) di dalam melaksanakan tugas operasi atau latihan secara taktikal di samping kebolehoperasian (interoperability) dan keberkesanan penugasan bersama antara perkhidmatan dalam ATM.
Selain daripada itu, latihan ini juga untuk menguji keberkesanan peralatan yang sedia ada dan terkini agak dapat disesuaikan dengan operasi semasa serta mengemaskini prosedur sedia ada.
Latihan yang dilaksanakan bermula pada 27 Feb hingga 7 Mac 24 ini telah berjaya membuktikan aset-aset pertahanan udara milik TUDM terutamanya pesawat angkut (C130H, A400M dan CN235) dan helikopter (EC725AP dan AW139) sentiasa dalam siap siaga serta berupaya untuk melaksanakan tugas-tugas operasi sama ada di daratan atau pun di lautan sebilang masa.
Latihan ini juga membuktikan kemampuan kerjasama antara cabang perkhidmatan dalam ATM iaitu TDM dan TLDM serta elemen pasukan khas dari Grup Gerak Khas (GGK), Pasukan Elit 10 Briged (Para) dan Pasukan Khas TUDM (PASKAU).

  1. To the best of my knowledge only the Caribous were certified for LAPES and even then was hardly performed.

  2. They did indeed but with regards to us as far as I know only Caribous were certified and quite a number of the sorties were in support of Police Field Force units.
