SHAH ALAM: Rear Admiral Mohd Rosli Abdullah has been appointed as the seventh director-general of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, effective from September 17, 2024. MMEA in a release today (September 18) stated that Rosli was the acting deputy-director general operations prior to his appointment as the top Coastie.
As he is a two-star prior to his new post, it is likely he will also be made a full admiral soon. The release did not state the new DG’s age but stated he has been in the national maritime security field for the last thirty years. He has a surface warfare badge, so I am assuming he was a former ship’s driver. This post will be updated once the MMEA posted a more detailed biodata of its new DG.

MMEA Logistics chief, Vice Admiral (Maritime) Saiful Lizan Ibrahim, who was appointed as the acting DG twice, was again not selected for the top post. Just as I had predicted in an earlier post.

Any news regarding 9 patrol ships + interceptors approved in Belanjawan 2024?
CMIIW, Rear is 3rd level behind Vice admiral rite, so if hes getting a full admiral promo that means jumping 2 positions ahead.
As for why he got ahead, well, a ship driver will get more attention than a paper pusher. Like all other chiefs are former frontliners and not from logistics or support or engineering roles.
Any news on opv2 and opv3 for that matter? at all? menteri saifuddin didnt give any update about them at all
If that shipyard confirmed foreclosure, there will be a lengthy trip to untangle the legal mess before can even restart the project for OPV 2&3, not to mention the project team need to reform, the workers need to rehire, need to reengage the OEM principals, and replace any wornout parts due to storage (the hull parts are stored outside in open). I think its why the Govt had rushed to take out OPV1 before the lawyers came in.
So the govt better not already paid them for 3 ships right? Cuz that will be a mess..even to complete that OPV1,the govt injected more than 100m
Though menteri saifuddin said recently the continue construction of opv2&3 has been approved by his ministry. But not yet from the cabinet.
No choice really. Money all gone in, modules ady built, equipment for them ady bought (I believe).
