Royal Malaysian Navy marks fleet record-setting 20,000 flying hours

SHAH ALAM: Airbus Helicopters and the Royal Malaysian Navy held a ceremony at Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference to celebrate the excellent flight operations record, as well as the achievement of 20,000 flying hours of the AS555SN Fennec fleet.

Fabrice Rochereau, Head of Sales, Asia Pacific, Airbus Helicopters presented Cdr Fairul bin Mohd Shukor, Commanding Officer of Squadron 502 of the RMN, with the award to commemorate its achievement of 20,000 flight hours with the AS555SN fleet. He was accompanied by First Admiral Ahmad Shafirudin bin Abu Bakar, Naval Airwing Commander of the RMN.

The Royal Malaysian Navy’s fleet of six AS555SN helicopters have been in service since 2004. The two-tonne multirole aircraft are primarily deployed for lead-in training and to support naval flying operations. Together, they have achieved 20,000 flight hours.
