SHAH ALAM: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will hold an official work visit to Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS) in Lumut, Perak with the Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on October 5. The visit was to check on the progress of the Second-Generation Patrol Vessel project or better known as the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS).

PAC chairperson Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the visit will give the Dewan Rakyat Speaker more information on the project’s progress for the term between October 2022 and May 2023, the report of which will be presented in Parliament during its third meeting held next month.

The third meeting of the Parliament will be held from October 9 to November 23.

“Accordingly, the PAC hopes that the Speaker will consider allowing the PAC report on the LCS project progress be debated in the Dewan Rakyat after the report is presented,” she said in a statement released today.

The visit will come a week after physical work of the LCS is supposed to be resumed next week. Defence Minister DSU Mohamad Hasan told Parliament on September 18 that resumption of work was to start on the fourth week of September (next week).

He said the resumption was decided following agreements with all parties involved in the project.

Apart from the LCS report, the PAC will also table its reports on Bernas, COVID 19 vaccine and Felcra Bhd.

  • Berapa kali dah nak pegi tuu? Everytime theres a change in Govt, I swear there will be a lawatan by yet another PAC team or RCI team. Nak tengok apa lagi? What is the difference then and now when there was no work progress and they could just simply refer to the previous reports? This is such a waste of time rather than working on getting it resumed ASAP, like start it today and get done ASAP.

    • The PAC is supposed to come out with a progress report every three months. As there is nothing done at the yard for the last one year or so, the latest report from November last year to May is good enough.

Agreed! I somehow missed the point as how these frequent MP visits can spout quicker progress in the LCS saga!
Just get the money moving and shipbuilding done at a higher tempo. I am personally sick of reading the pompous idiocy and pronouncements of the ministers, parliamentary committees and other bigwigs!
    It's like regurgitating garbage! Bah...
