SHAH ALAM: New leads in LCS investigations. Local media is reporting that the MACC has discovered new leads in its investigations into the LCS procurement and its contract. The MACC arrested two men, one 79 and the other 49, to help investigations into the case, Bernama reported.

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested two individuals yesterday in its investigation into procurement contracts for six littoral combat ships (LCS) to be built by Boustead Naval Shipyard.
According to a source, MACC arrested two CEOs involved in the project while they were at the MACC headquarters to provide statements.
“The two were suspected to have received bribes through payments made to a company overseas.
“Another person is also suspected to have received bribes from a sub-contractor appointed to oversee the project,” the source said.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 16 of the MACC Act and Section 409 of the Penal Code.
I have no idea whether the latest arrests will lead into any charges. The ones on the Gempita did not. The arrest came a day after the Defence Minister testified at the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Parliament. The PAC did not issue any statement regarding the testimony however as it was the standard procedure. The minister’s testimony will likely be part of the PAC report on the LCS. I am of the opinion that we cannot expect much from the PAC really.

What's this investigation about?. Will this make the project be completed by mext year?. If no then this investigation is just to divert attention. What we want to see is a quick resumption of work for the LCS
Even if work start tomorrow, Maharaja Lela will only be ready at the earliest 2025, that fact is unavoidable. I think that's the reason the government is still hesitating in funding the completion. No quick gratification for loads of money, hence the continuing saga
I am interested in why Mme Parly of MinDef France was here a few days back. I sure hope it's got something to do with completing the Class. This same French lady was also the one vilified in Australia for demanding more concessions from the Commonwealth (Australia) in order to have the French submarines completed in South Australia... leading to the AUKUS saga.
Let's hope we get a good deal out of the Frenchies and won't be pushed around by Mme Parly.
No, lah, the French defence minister did not come down here this week or last week. She was scheduled to come but didn't turn up, there was no announcement why she didn't. I was told Hishammudin goofed when he announced that she was coming. We have had several meetings between the two defence ministers for a decade or so
Taib - 'I sure hope it’s got something to do with completing''
Why on earth would it? completing it is up to us. We looked at the option of appointing the French as the 'rescue' contractor and dropped it. The obstacles related to completing the ships can only be solved by us.
Why it took them this long to find the culprit ? This is whole thing is full of crap. This is just another shifting the blame. How a couple of people could derail the projects for many years? They squandered millions ? Doubted this. Someone just have siphoned billions which makes the amount left unable to procured some key components which an idiot would know it definitely half the project. These minions are nothing. Another 3 years to complete is also a joke. Just say it we have 6 billion but only able to spent only 2 billion. That\'s I believe make more sense. It is time all these stops.
The LCS saga would not be settled until after GE15 and any ensuing aftermath (ie frog hopping and counter hopping, recounts, by elections, etc) and only until we achieved some semblance of political stability in the Government.
Under this circumstances it would be logical to cancel the contract with BHIC and salvage all the materials
And do what?
Can i be blunt and pin this scandal on the then PM who approved and in a sense awarded this contract to BNS?..All six ships at that..
Yup
