New Joint Force Commander, the 15th One

SHAH ALAM: Lt General Zahani Zainal Abidin has been appointed as the 15th commander of the Malaysian Joint Force Command today. He replaced Lt General Noor Mohamad Akmar Mohd Dom, who is retiring from service.

The commander of the Joint Force is rotated between the services, though since 2022 an air force three star has been the commander. This is likely to ensure the number of three stars in the services stays the same.

Zahani is the second Hornet pilot to head the Joint Force command since it was established in 2004. The first was Lt Gen Yazid Arsyad who became the commander on February 20, 2020, and retired two years later. Yazid died on June 28, 2023, some six months after he retired.

The headquarters of Joint Force has been operating in Kuantan since 2019 when its camp was completed. The headquarters was officially named the Al Sultan Abdullah Camp by the then King in 2022.

Noor Mohamad Akmar was the third Mig-29 Fulcrum to head the command. The other two were General Affendi Buang and General Ackbal Abdul Samad. Both were three stars then.

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 September 2024 – Majlis Serah Terima Tugas Panglima Angkatan Bersama (PAB) telah diadakan di Ruang Perkasa Wisma Pertahanan, di antara Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Indera Noor Mohamad Akmar bin Mohd Dom TUDM dengan Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Zahani bin Hj Zainal Abidin TUDM. Majlis tersebut telah disaksikan oleh Panglima Angkatan Tentera, Jeneral Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohamad bin Ab. Rahman.
Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Indera Noor Mohamad Akmar bin Mohd Dom TUDM yang merupakan PAB Ke-14, akan menamatkan perkhidmatan tidak lama lagi setelah empat dekad menabur bakti pada ibu pertiwi.
PAB Ke-15, Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Zahani bin Hj Zainal Abidin TUDM merupakan seorang juruterbang pesawat pejuang. Antara pesawat pejuang yang pernah diterbangkan oleh beliau adalah Hawk 108 dan F/A 18D Hornet. Beliau pernah menjawat beberapa jawatan penting, antaranya sebagai Pegawai Memerintah No 18 Skuadron, Komander Pangkalan Udara Gong Kedak, Panglima Wilayah Udara 1, Asisten Ketua Staf Perancangan dan Pembangunan TUDM dan Panglima Latihan dan Pendidikan Udara sebelum dilantik sebagai PAB ke-15.
Seluruh warga ATM mengucapkan selamat maju jaya buat Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Indera Noor Mohamad Akmar bin Mohd Dom TUDM dan sekalung tahniah buat Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Zahani bin Hj Zainal Abidin TUDM diatas pelantikan sebagai PAB ke-15.
