SHAH ALAM: New FICs on track. It appears that the new batch of Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) from Gading Marine Industry (M) Sdn Bhd is on track. Thirteen FICs are being procured from Gading Marine, with four of them scheduled to be delivered next with the rest to be delivered in 2024. Gading Marine also built the first batch of FICs procured under Op Benteng.
It is unclear whether the second batch of the Gading Marine will be the same as the first but from the Gading Marine website, it is likely that it will be slightly different. From website, the first batch is now described as the G2000 FIC 18m class. The second batch is likely the G2000 Mk II FIC 18m class which is also featured on the website.
The Mk II FIC cabin is placed further forward than the batch 1. The line drawing also revealed that the Mk II FIC is equipped with a single RWS on top of the cabin with two-gun mounts in the rear deck.

LUMUT, 22 Dis – Mesyuarat Project Management Review (PMR) yang pertama bagi Kontrak Perolehan 13 unit Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) telah dilaksanakan di Bilik Mesyuarat Damai 1, Double Tree by Hilton Damai Laut, Perak pada 22 Dis 22. Mesyuarat dipengerusikan oleh Setiausaha Bahagian Perolehan Kementerian Pertahanan, Encik Mohammad Abiddin bin Abd Rahman dan turut hadir Asisten Ketua Staf Perancangan dan Pembangunan Markas Tentera Laut, Laksamana Muda Mohamad Azuwan bin Harun dengan penglibatan wakil TLDM, Bahagian Perolehan Kementerian Pertahanan serta limbungan Gading Marine Industry (M) Sdn Bhd.
Mesyuarat PMR ini bertujuan untuk melihat status terkini projek serta menilai semula pelaksanaan kontrak terutama aktiviti-aktiviti utama yang melibatkan pembinaan, penerimaan serta jadual pembayaran. Secara keseluruhannya, kemajuan terkini projek telah mencapai tahap 15.02% iaitu awal 40 hari berbanding 10.02% yang dirancang. Pengerusi berpuas hati dengan pencapaian projek setakat ini walaupun masih di peringkat awal namun mengingatkan semua pihak yang terlibat khususnya pihak kontraktor supaya fokus terhadap tanggungjawab mereka dengan mengekalkan momentum kerja memastikan projek ini disiapkan dengan jaya mengikut garis masa yang dirancang.
Sejurus selesai mesyuarat, ahli mesyuarat telah melawat lokasi pembinaan 4 buah FIC fasa pertama di limbungan Gading Marine Industry (M) Sdn Bhd, Kampung Acheh, Sitiawan. Keseluruhan 13 unit FIC ini dijadualkan siap secara berfasa sehingga tahun 2024 di mana 4 unit FIC bakal diterima TLDM pada tahun 2023 manakala 9 unit FIC yang seterusnya pada tahun 2024.

The cabin is at the same location.
Only the windshield rake has been changed from aft-swept to forward-swept. The new arrangement will provide cooler cabin and reduced glare from the sun. Better for the crew in my opinion.
