SHAH ALAM: The Procurement Division of the Defence Ministry has issued a twenty-one-day tender for a multi-modal transport operator (MTO) to ship and deliver anti-infantry directional fragmentation charges for the RMN.
The seven hundred fragmentation charges or better known as Claymore mines will be shipped from Mohawk Electrical Systems Inc, located in Delaware of the US. Mohawk Electrical is the manufacturer for the Claymore mines for US forces and other militaries as well. The items will be shipped from the Wilmington harbour in North Carolina
The MTO tender which opened on December 3, closes on December 24. The fragmentation charges will be shipped to the weapons and explosives depots of the Kota Kinabalu and Lumut naval bases.
The tender for the supply of the Claymore mines was published on December 27 2023, and closed on January 18, this year. The public specifications of the tender:
PEROLEHAN MEMBEKAL DAN MENGHANTAR ANTI INFANTRY DIRECTIONAL FRAGMENTATION CHARGE UNTUK TENTERA LAUT

Perolehan Membekal dan Menghantar Pelbagai Jenis Bahan Letupan untuk Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia ke dua (2) destinasi akhir: a) Depot Peluru dan Bahan Letupan Barat, Pangkalan TLDM, Lumut. b) Depot Peluru dan Bahan Letupan Timur, Pangkalan TLDM Kota Kinabalu, Teluk Sepangar.
Although the public specifications did not say it, it is likely that the Claymore mines are ordered for the RMN Special Forces unit, Paskal.
From Wikipedia:
The M18A1 Claymore mine has a horizontally convex gray-green plastic case (inert training versions are light blue or green with a light blue band). The shape was developed through experimentation to deliver the optimum distribution of fragments at 50 m (55 yd) range. The case has the words “FRONT TOWARD ENEMY” embossed on the front of the mine.[4] A simple open sight on the top surface allows for aiming the mine. Two pairs of scissor legs attached to the bottom support the mine and allow it to be aimed vertically. On both sides of the sight are fuse wells set at 45 degrees.
Internally the mine contains a layer of C-4 explosive behind a matrix of about seven hundred 1⁄8-inch-diameter (3.2 mm) steel balls set into an epoxy resin.
Meanwhile, it appears that the five 60-tonne tank transporters which contract was awarded to High Point Worlwide Sdn Bhd with the LOA of RM13.4 million will be Scania P500A 6X6 HZ XT trucks. The Royal Service Corps on its Facebook page has put up an infographic of the trucks.
Malaysian Defence had stated that the High Point will be supplying Scania trucks and locally made low loaders in this report in 2023.
