More Superbikes for Traffic police and Ammo as well

SHAH ALAM: The procurement division of the Home Ministry has issued a tender for the supply and delivery of two hundred high-powered motorcycles for the traffic police. The 40-day tender was published on November 22 and closes on December 31.

The indicative cost for the two-hundred superbikes is RM30 million. It is interesting to note that the Army is leasing 40 superbikes for RM13.76 million. The same company had also supplied similar bikes to the police under a leasing programme in 2020.

The Home Ministry earlier this year also published a tender for the leasing of 146 superbikes for the police to escort VVIPs and 35 more machines for security operations. The tender with an indicative cost of RM64.074 million, was subsequently cancelled.

It must be noted that the traffic police operate an unknown number of superbikes of different manufacturers from Honda, Kawasaki, BMW and Yamaha. In 2021, some 200 Yamaha FJR 1300 superbikes were delivered to the traffic police.

Based on the public specifications, the traffic police are looking for similar superbikes for this tender. Some of the specifications:

1. SPESIFIKASI KEUPAYAAN Motosikal berkuasa tinggi yang
ditawarkan adalah jenis Touring.
1.1 ENJIN 1.1.1 Enjin petrol, 4 lejang (four stroke).
1.1.2 Sistem bahanapi (fuel system) adalah sekurang-kurang dari
jenis suntikan terus elektronik (electronic fuel injection – EFI).
1.1.3 Sesaran enjin adalah 1200 cc ke atas.
1.1.4 Sistem penyejuk menggunakan cecair (liquid cooled).
1.1.5 Kuasa keluaran maksimum tidak kurang dari 100 kW pada
kadar pusingan enjin antara 7,500 rpm hingga 9,000 rpm.
1.1.6 Daya kilas maksimum tidak kurang dari 135 Nm pada kadar
pusingan enjin antara 6,000 rpm hingga 7,000 rpm.
1.1.7 Motosikal mesti dilengkapi dengan penghidup enjin
menggunakan elektrik (electric starter)

Apart from the superbikes, the bidder must also supply two hundred full face helmets and training for two hundred riders and fifty mechanics.

Meanwhile, a tender for the supply and delivery of 1.8 million 7.62mm ball and 1.9 million 7.62mm linked, belted ammo was published today. The 62-day tender closes on January 23, 2025. The 7.62mm ball ammo is meant for rifles with magazines like the HK11E light machine gun. It can also be used on the SCAR Heavy if it’s used as a general-purpose rifle. For the designated marksman role, .308 match ammo is the preferred choice.

The belted 7.62mm are for the FN MAG, mostly used on marine police boats and armoured cars of the General Operations Force. The indicative cost for the tender is RM17.515 million.

On November 23, a tender for the supply and delivery of six million rounds of 9mm 115 grain ball ammo, 6.5 million 5.56mm (M193) and one million 5.56mm blank ammunition was published. The indicative cost for the tender is RM31.430 million.
