SHAH ALAM: The Army has taken delivery of various equipment and items which were procured within the last few years on February 27. Even though the Army published a release on its social media it lacked details unlike in the past. Some of the equipment and items were not even mentioned in name for unknown reasons. One of them is the Hino 300 tipper truck likely for used by the Rejimen Jurutera Di Raja. Checks on Eperolehan showed no tender or quotation notice were issued for the such trucks for the last three years or so.

Heat resistance gloves and aiming post lights. The Army release did not say which unit will be using these items nor how it was procured.

It is also interesting to note that there were two foreign military officers – from their uniform, German – were present at the delivery ceremony. One would think that they were there as some of the items and equipment delivered were gifted to the Army.

Anyhow the release is posted below:

Although marked as cordless grinder, the item is actually a battery powered circular saw. It is one of the items delivered to the Army at the ceremony. The release did not say how they are purchased or which units these items will be used.

It was for this reason I had delayed posting the story, hoping that a more detailed list would be available. Unfortunately, until today March 1, the detailed list was not made available. However, as some of the items were reported by Malaysian Defence or searchable on the Eperolehan database, this report will have to do. It will be updated or via new post if more information is available.

As for the tank transporters, Malaysian Defence has posted before that High Point Worldwide Sdn Bhd was awarded the Letter of Award of RM13.4 million for five 60-tonne tank transporters from a tender published in 2023. The prime movers will be Scania P500A 6X6 HZ XT trucks. It is unclear whether all five tank transporters and their low loaders were delivered.
Volvo FMX 30 tonne prime mover with its low loader. The Army is getting two of these vehicles as heavy equipment transporters. The HET is likely for the transportation of wheel loaders and cranes.

For the thirty-tonne heavy equipment transporter, High Point is also the company which was awarded the LOA of RM2.37 million. From pictures at the delivery ceremony, the solution to carry construction equipment like wheel loaders and cranes are Volvo FMX trucks. The tender published in November 2022 called for two prime movers and low loader trailers.

As for the modular tent, there were two tenders for them in 2024, one in March (57 tents) and the other in October for ten tents. The LOA for both was already announced the 57 tents one was awarded to Red Aspen (RM2.479 million) and ten tents was awarded to Orchid Legacy Sdn Bhd with an LOA of RM481,000. As a Red Aspen representative was photographed at the ceremony, I am assuming it is the company that delivered the tents

As for the 81mm mortar complete system, it is the same Technesis 3000 SL mortar together with the Talos fire control system and the Cendana Auto MT815 mortar carrier. Do note that the mortars and vehicles came from the previous order and not the 18 which was tendered out in July last year. I believed the latest delivery is 30 mortars, complete system as reported at DSA 2024.

The rear link ceremonial vehicles contract was awarded to Global Komited Sdn Bhd, the LOA was not made public though. The seven-day quotation notice for the two vehicles was published in July, last year. The first vehicle – a Toyota Fortuner – is meant as

Escort Vehicle is required in the conduct of escort duty for Very Important Person (VIP) for Army. It shall be a vehicle able to escort VIP for rear-link communication. It shall be able ready to deploy at all time during escort duty.

The second is a Maxus V80 2.5L van to carry personnel required for the King’s ceremonial duties.

The Personnel Carrier Vehicle is required in the conduct of ceremonial duty for Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di Pertuan Agong. It shall be a vehicle able to carry operator for the operation. It shall be able ready to deploy at all time during event for Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di Pertuan Agong in any royal ceremonies and official ceremonies

As for the EOD Command and Control vehicle, the tender for six vehicles was published for May 2022. The LOA of RM3.497 million was awarded to Tanjung Boulevard Sdn Bhd. The specifications for the vehicles are as follows:

There is a requirement for the EOD Command and Control Vehicle for use by the Malaysian Army in deploying an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team (EOD/C-IED) operation in the Malaysian environment.

I was told the vehicles selected for the tender is Mercedes Springer vans. PDRM EOD units are also equipped with similar vans.

The horse carriage for use in conjunction with Skuadron Istiadat Berkuda of the Rejimen Kor Armor DiRaja and comes under 4 Divisyen.

The tender for a single royal horse carriage was published in June and July 2024, was awarded to Nusantara Dinamik Resources with an LOA of RM850,000. The carriage will be operated by the Skuadron Kuda Istiadat.
The Surron Light Bee X E-Bikes.

As for the tactical e-bikes, it is the Surron e-bike as reported by Malaysian Defence previously.

Malaysian Defence wrote that the Army has bought fourty-five electric scramblers for units based in northern peninsula, and the borders of Sabah and Sarawak. The cost of the e-bikes – the Surron Light Bee X – was some RM1.473 million.

As for the last item mentioned in the post – Radio TD – I was told that it was the Thales radios which was ordered through Traumland Sdn Bhd.

Anyhow, as for the equipment and items pictured at the ceremony, I will post them when further information is available.

  1. Are horse carriages supposed to be that expensive, or does the royal horse carriage have special functions, like bulletproofing?

  2. @ marhalim

” Skuadron Istiadat Berkuda of the Rejimen Artileri ”

If not mistaken, I believe Skuadron Istiadat Berkuda (SIB) is under Kor Armor Diraja, not Rejimen Artilleri Diraja.

  3. Nope on the Volvo FMX as I clearly put in the story that there was a tender for it and the company that got the contract was High Point Worldwide. I was told that the Germans had donated the money and it was local companies that was paid to procure the items.

  4. No no I was implying just the Bosch stuff. The FMX was another sentence. Haha
I have a soft spot for Volvo trucks.

  5. On the topic of tentera darat procurement

I saw on myprocurement keputusan sebut harga for additional METIS M missiles in 2021 for the cost of about RM48 million.

Seems like the winner of the contract was the same company that won the carl gustaf contract.

How many missiles were supplied and from where?

  6. Even though the LOA was awarded, the contract was never fullfil due to the sanctions imposed by the US and EU. Russia can deliver the missiles, there was no issue about but it was how the payment was going to be made. I was told a number of payment options were considered but in the end MOF and Bank Negara said no. And it was drop just like that.

That was the reason they came out with the ATGW tender which was won by Karaok.

  7. As we have decided on the karaok, the only thing we can do now is to double down on more karaoks in RMK13 2026-2030 budget, to have enough numbers to equip army units in both West and East Malaysia.

  8. Imho kinda slow dont you think? Since we ordered it last year so nearly 2 years to delivery is insane.

  9. I believe south koreans got the license to manufacture metis m missiles.

They are also retiring their metis m replacing them with Raybolt.

Any chance that we can get additional metis m from south korea?

  10. The war & sanction have been going on too long. Hopefully Trump can make a deal with Putin to end this insanity thats spiraled out of anyones control ady. Once sanctions are over we could finally get the OEM support we need for MKM SLEP, to keep them in service for the next 10 years at least.

  11. Assuming RMAF want to keep the MKM flying.

There’s likely not enough money, pilot, ground crew , technician and so on to support both another squadron of hornet as well as keeping the MKM flying

  12. They have every intention to keep them flying, its after all, our most advanced & deadliest fighter jet. However costs have to be justified and I guess an engine change is a bridge too far so they will do everything short of a major component costly changeover. They had been supporting bot flying simultaneously, so I dont see why the status quo will change unless either has a costly change.

  13. Zaft,

They have already said the MKMs will be retired in 10 years and until that time we are likely only going to spend what is absolutely needed to keep them operational and to have a certain level of combat capability.

We`ve long had more faith and confidence in the Hornets which are more cost effective to operate and have far better servicibility rates but the 18 MKMs which tend to get more attention from the public because they’re are sexier looking, have longer range, have longer range weapons and thrust vectoring, etc,
make up a significant percentage of our MRCA strength, we can let go prematurely without a replacement.
