SHAH ALAM: LMS Badik home. RMN’s third China made warship, LMS Badik, arrived at the Kota Kinabalu naval base in Teluk Sepanggar in the capital city of Sabah today (September 25, 2021). It took seven days for the ship to sail from Qidong, China to Kota Kinabalu, says the Eastern Fleet Command in its social media posting.
A small ceremony was held at the naval base jetty led by the Eastern Fleet commander Vice-Admiral Sabri Zali to welcome the 45 crew members and the ship.
The post did not say when the commissioning ceremony for the third ship of the Keris class but its likely by mid-October as the crew had to undergo quarantine as like other travelers into the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As you are aware LMS Badik was named in a ceremony last week, just a few days after it was officially delivered to the RMN. She will soon joined her sister ships, KD Keris and KD Sundang, after she is commissioned into RMN service, where she will be then be called KD Badik.
Meanwhile, RMAF fighters – F/A-18D Hornet, Sukhoi Su-30MKM and Hawk 208s – had flown with two USAF B-52 Stratofotress bombers, yesterday.
US IndoPacific Command in a social media posting today stated
B-52s from @TeamBarksdale integrated with Royal Malaysian Air Force Hawk 208/108, Sukhoi Su-30MKM, and F/A-18D fighter aircraft during a recent Bomber Task Force mission.
RMAF also posted about the formation flight in its own social media account today.
The integrated flight, I was told, took place somewhere north of Pulau Langkawi.
