SHAH ALAM: THE Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2017 (LIMA 17) will be held on March 21 to March 25, next year. The dates for the show was confirmed by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein last week on his official Twitter account.
LIMA 17 will be held as its traditional location, Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) for the aerospace segment while the maritime show will be held at Porto Malai. The Armed Forces namely the RMAF and RMN will yet again play centre stage for LIMA 17 as it had been since the show started back in 1991.
A team from the ministry visited both venues last week as preparation for the show is intensified.
According to industry sources, the Defence Ministry has appointed EN Projects Sdn Bhd to organise the biennial show which started in 1991. The first three shows were run by Le Proton LIMA Sdn Bhd before it was joined by HW LIMA Sdn Bhd in 1997 which was hired to run the maritime segment.
In 1999, HW LIMA took over the whole show. The company run the show until the last LIMA, last year.
The appointment of EN Projects is expected to be announce officially before Ramadan starts while the first promotional campaign for next year’s LIMA is expected to held at the Eurosatory show in Paris which starts on June 13.
The next campaign for LIMA 17 will be at the Farnborough Air Show which starts on July 11. As mentioned earlier, promotion for LIMA 17 was delayed as the ministry had not appointed the organising company after it decided not to re-appoint HW LIMA to run the show.
It would have been better if the promotion had started earlier this year or even at the recently concluded DSA 2016.

The maritime section will be opened to the public from March 21. As for the air show it will be on March 24 and 25.
