SHAH ALAM: Defence Ministry secretary-general Lokman Hakim Ali made a visit to the Otokar company manufacturing plant during his visit to Turkiye. He was in Turkiye as part of a Malaysian delegation which among others attended the keel laying ceremony for LMS Batch 2.
His visit to Otokar is interesting as the company had not supplied any vehicles or other services – I stand to be corrected of course – to the Armed Forces. It had tried in the past but always falls short. Otokar produced the Cobra II 4X4 armoured Light Tactical Vehicle – among others – which is suitable for the HMLTV requirements for the UNIFIL mission. If they chose the KJA route, of course. If I am not mistaken Otokar had also displayed the Cobra II or I variant in past DSAs.

Anyhow, the release mentioned that Otokar also produced various vehicles for both the civilian and military markets. For the military market it also produced armoured tracked and tactical vehicles.
