SHAH ALAM: The tender for the supply, delivery, integration and commissioned of a new fire control radar optical (FCRO) for KD Jebat (pennant number 29) has been canceled. As usual no explanation was given. The advertisement for the FCRO was published on December 26, 2023, and it closed on February 8, 2024.
As reported previously, the three companies had bid for the tender, one at RM58.2 million, second RM42.9 million and the third at RM10.9 million. The third bid was lower than the RM11 million estimate for the tender.
This the second FCR tender for a RMN ship was canceled after the bid was closed. The recent one is the one for KD Perak.
It is likely that both ships would have gotten their new FCR during their refit period. Jebat is now at the Lumut Naval Shipyard for a refit which is expected to be completed in September, next year. She went into the yard in June.
Perak is also undergoing her refit at the Labuan Shipyard and Engineering Sdn Bhd starting this Sept 18.

It is unclear whether RMN will publish new tenders for the two ships to get their FCR. Even if not, they are expected to soldier on though.
