SHAH ALAM: In late April, Malaysian Defence reported that Global Komited Sdn Bhd – a subsidiary of the Weststar Group – was awarded the Letter of Award for the tender of four armoured personnel carriers (APC) for the General Operations Force or Pasukan Gerakan Am of the police.
As the LOA was only published on Eperolehan website I had no idea what APC was offered for the tender. A Global Komited official when met at the company’s booth at DSA 2024 told Malaysian Defence that the APC is the IAG Guardian Extreme MRAP. The Guardian Extreme is latest variant of the vehicle supplied to Malaysian contingent in UNIFIL.
The GOF APC is itself another variant of the Guardian Extreme as it comes with five-doors – four on the sides and one at the back as specified by the police. However, as the production of the five-door vehicle only started recently Global Komited is displaying a standard three doors Guardian Extreme which looked like to the ones in service in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Global Komited has started delivery of 50 GK-M2 FFR vehicles recently. An example of the GK-M2 – an update of the GK-M1 FFR – is also on display at the Global Komited stand. Another 50 is expected to be delivered next year and another 50 in 2026.
The tender for the FFR vehicles was published in 2021. And although, the Eperolehan website has not updated the status of the tender, Malaysian Defence was told by industry sources that the Global Komited was selected ahead of other bids, notably the Cendana Auto FFR vehicles which delivery started in early 2022, after it won a 2019 RFB.
