
SHAH ALAM: Some 77 days after he was appointed as the Joint Force Headquarters (JF) chief of staff, Mejar Jeneral Khairul Anuar Abd Aziz is taking over at 1 Division as the General Officer Commanding. The highest-ranking serviceman with the Pingat Gagah Berani took over from Mejar Jeneral Mohammad Fauzi Kamis in a ceremony in Kuching, Sarawak today.
According to a release by the Eastern Field Command, Fauzi is taking over the COS job previously held by Khairul Anuar, who was appointed there on August 30. Khairul Anuar, 53, is the 31st 1 Div GOC. Army Eastern Field Command commander Leftenan General Sofi Lepi made the announcement on the command’s Facebook page today.

Setinggi-tinggi penghargaan juga dizahirkan kepada Mejar Jeneral Datuk Mohammad Fauzi bin Kamis, mantan Panglima Divisyen Pertama Infantri Malaysia Ke-30 atas segala khidmat bakti dan kepimpinan terbilang sepanjang menakhoda warga ‘Pertama Perkasa’.

Temerloh-born Khairul Anuar was awarded the PGB, the country’s second highest gallantry award for the Bakara Market incident in Somalia. He is the highest-ranking decorated serviceman following the retirement of SP holder, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razak Yusof in February 2023.
Khairul Anuar became the highest decorated soldier when Fifth Division commander Mej Jeneral Abdul Halim Khalid retired in June 2022. Abdul Halim received the PGB for his action in the Benadir court incident in Somalia, just weeks before the Bakara market one.
