SHAH ALAM: The Army today took delivery of various vehicles, tents, Carl Gustav M4 Recoiless Rifles, multi-channel radio system complete with vehicles, VHF radios and walkie talkies. On hand to receive the vehicles and equipment was Army chief TS General Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan and as usual the ceremony was held at the 92 Central Depot, Batu Kantomen camp.

The 57 modular tents was contracted to Aspen Red Sdn Bhd for RM2.4 million from a tender published this year. Aspen Red was also awarded the contracts for the same tents in 2020 (200 units) and 2018 (five units). DRB-Hicom Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech) delivered 10 Multipurpose Inventory Mobile Vehicles (MMIV) from a tender published in 2022. The LOA for the Isuzu three tonne trucks which basically carry spares for Army units is RM4.4 million.

Softlabs Technologies Sdn Bhd which received the RM64.7 million contract to supply the Army with 13 multi-channel radio system (MRCS) from the tender published in 2020. From the pictures published the MRCS are utilised using lap-tops with the radios and these are housed in a Unimog truck. The previous MRCS vehicle is the Iveco Daily 4X4 van.

High Point Worldwide Sdn Bhd delivered 124 units of parachute free fall glider from a tender published in 2022. The LOA is RM11 million.

Global Komited Sdn Bhd delivered 50 GK-M2 Fitted For Radio vehicles out of the 153 units from a tender published in 2021( Army Mobility III programme). Checks on Eperolehan revealed that the tender was not awarded to any company as off today, similar to the 2019 tender (Army mobility II programme) for such vehicles, awarded to Cendana Auto. Six companies bid for the tender with the lowest price at RM55.998 million and the highest at RM73.960 million. I believed Global Komited bid was RM61.029 million just slightly slower than the budget for the contract.

Thirty all-terrain vehicles were delivered from GGS Global Sdn Bhd for the quotation notice published in April this year. As the ATVs are meant for peninsula units, GGS Global delivered them here. GGS was awarded the LOA of RM499,498. The two other ATV contracts meant for units in Sabah and Sarawak, 30 vehicles each, was awarded to Setinggi Yakin and Tekun Gemilang Enterprise, both with the same LOA for RM499,498. It is likely the ATV will be shipped directly to Sabah and Sarawak.

Another item delivered from three quotation notices published in May, were 18 NVG which LOA was issued to Rolid Setia Sdn Bhd. All the three LOAs were for RM499,498. From the brochures pictured at the ceremony, the NVGs are US made AGM Global 50NW1 NVGs.

Kembara Station Sdn Bhd was issued the contract to deliver 102 V/UHF handheld (50 units), V/UHF vehicular (2 units) and H/VHF manpack (50 units) radio sets for the Special Forces Group. The tender was published in 2022 and the solution provided by Kembara Station is from L3 Harris of the US. Eperolehan did not released the value of the LOA though Malaysian Defence has reported it previously as RM18.3 million. It is interesting note that another company supplied L3 Harris radios in 2023.

Rimbun Emas Defence Sdn Bhd delivered 460 sets of walkie talkies, from a tender published in May, 2024. The LOA is RM2.98 million. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of the walkie talkies was not named.

Pardus Engineering Sdn bhd delivered two Toyota Hilux and two horse floats at the ceremony. The tender for the vehicles and floats which can carry two horses each, was published in January, this year. The LOA was not made public.

As for the Carl Gustav 84mm recoilless rifles, 110 units were delivered today. The contract was awarded to Global Combined Technology Sdn Bhd with an LOA of RM27.1 million. The same company is also expected to be awarded the contract to supply the rounds for the M4.
Inversys Corporation Sdn Bhd also delivered a Close Quarter Battle simulator to the Army. The CQB simulator which took the form of a 747 airliner is located at Kem Sri Iskandar in Mersing, Johor, headquarters of the GGK. A picture of the GGK operators assaulting the simulator was published in the Facebook page of Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari. It was subsequently deleted.

Checks on the Eperolehan showed no tender or QN were issued for the simulator. It is unclear the cost of the project.

KUALA LUMPUR: Panglima Tentera Darat (PTD), Jen Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan memeriksa serta menerima pelbagai aset baharu disumbangkan oleh beberapa syarikat pertahanan tempatan yang direka khas bagi memenuhi keperluan operasi Tentera Darat (TD) bertempat di Garaj 92 Depot Kenderaan Pusat (92 DKP), Kem Batu Kentonmen pada 25 Okt 2024.

Majlis dimulakan dengan penyerahan Modular Tent untuk kegunaan TD sebanyak 57 unit diikuti dengan Multi Channel Radio System (MCRS) sebanyak 13 unit kenderaan.

Kemudian, penyerahan Multipurpose Mobile Inventory Vehicle (MMIV) sebanyak 10 unit, 50 unit trak 1 Tan Fitted for Radio (FFR), dua unit kenderaan penarik dan horse float serta 30 unit All Terrain Vehicle (ATV).

Majlis diteruskan dengan penyerahan set (V/UHF) handheld, (V/UHF) vehicular dan (H/VHF) manpack yang diperoleh sebanyak 102 unit manakala bagi kegunaan misi malam pula, TD menerima 18 unit Night Vision Goggle (NVG) serta 460 unit set lengkap walkie talkie untuk tujuan komunikasi.

Selain itu, TD menerima Anti Tank 84mm Carl Gustav sebanyak 110 unit diikuti dengan Parachute Free Fall Tactical Glider sebanyak 124 unit dan diakhiri dengan penyerahan satu unit Sistem Simulator Close Quarter Battle (CQB) untuk tujuan latihan.

Turut hadir, Timbalan Panglima Tentera Darat, Lt Jen Dato’ Tengku Muhammad Fauzi Tengku Ibrahim dan Ketua Staf Tentera Darat, Lt Jen Dato’ Zaidan Atan.
