A formation containing a Malaysian F/A-18D Hornet, a MIG 29 and an Australian F/A 18 Hornet fly over the Penang region of Malaysia, the flight was organized as a prelude flight to Bersama Lima 2011.
Mid Caption: This year marks the 40th Anniversary of successful co-operation between the founding members of the Five Power Defence Arrangement (FPDA); Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Australia. As part of Exercise Bersama Lima 11, F/A -18 Hornets from No. 75 Squadron (75 SQN) have deployed to practise air combat tactics with participating nations, and will join air, ground and naval forces of the FPDA training together in various locations on the Malaysian Peninsula and in the South China Sea.
Exercise Bersama Lima promotes a shared understanding of procedures for air and maritime operations, the protection of the marine environment and disaster relief management, and is important training for Australian Air Force personnel to hone key skills, work as a combined force and build regional relationships with FPDA nations.
