SHAH ALAM: Airbus Helicopters and the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) celebrated the police agency’s record of flying the AS355 helicopters in Malaysia at a ceremony held at Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference. The helicopter is now designated as H135 by Airbus
The RMP operates one of the most cost-efficient and versatile AS355 public service fleets in the world. Its fleet of nine AS355 helicopters has been in service since the 1990s and is used for a wide range of police aviation missions. Together, the helicopters have flown 70,000 hours.
Fabrice Rochereau, Head of Sales Asia Pacific, Airbus Helicopters presented an award to the Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani bin Haji Abdullah Sani of the Royal Malaysian Police to mark the achievement. Also present was Gerard Pau, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters Malaysia and Chief Operating Officer for Airbus Helicopters, Asia Pacific.
The AS355 pilots who have achieved 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 and 4,500 flying hours on the helicopters were also presented with the flying hours achievement badges, while the RMP’s engineers were recognised for their effective and prudent contract management.
