Defence and Home Ministers, Reveal Party

SHAH ALAM: PM10 DS Anwar Ibrahim announced his Cabinet lineup today. Anwar is doing double duty as the Finance Minister. BN chairman DS Zahid Hamidi and Petra Jaya MP Fadillah Yusof were appointed as deputy PMs. Zahid also became the Rural Development and Territories Minister while Fadillah also takes up Plantations and Commodities portfolio.

BN Deputy chairman and Rembau MP DS Mohamad Hassan takes over as Defence Minister while DS Shaifuddin Nasution Ismail is the Home Minister. Shaifuddin will be appointed as senator to take up the portfolio as he lost Kulim-Bandar Baharu constituency in the 15th general election. He had been the incumbent since 2013.

DS Mohamad Hasan.

Mohamad or Mat Hassan and better known as Tok Mat is 66 years old, in my opinion, much too old, for Jalan Padang Tembak. He is two years older than Mat Sabu when he was the Defence Minister from May 2018 to January 2020. I know other previous defence ministers were older than Mohamad (DS Ismail Sabri and DS Hishammuddin Hussein) which is the reason I prefer someone younger the portfolio. Anyhow, it is interesting to note that Mat Hassan was named as the Defence Minister in the cabinet list that was circulated earlier this week. That list has him as the DPM as well though.

Will Mat Hassan make a big impression in Jalan Padang Tembak with the white elephant looming in background? Only time will tell.

DS Shaifuddin Nasution Ismail

As for Shaifuddin, he is 59 this year. Again, much too old in my opinion. But since he is a true Anwar’s loyalist, his appointment to Home, is not surprising. Shaiffudin who left Umno in 1999 to support PKR, has been the party’s secretary-general since 2020. Among others he will have to resolve various issues with the police, immigration and the MMEA including the late delivery of the OPVs.

  1. Quite a good combination there

Tok Mat as MenHan, and Bang Nuar as MoF, used to be in Mindef too..

  2. Anwar’s Cabinet just gave a middle finger to all the Opposition voters. Sweet justice for BN supporters I guess hahaha. Also PH gave another middle finger to all those justice fighters when Court Cluster gets the top picks altho I’m mildly surprised LGE did not get any jobs, perhaps his court case is a forgone conclusion and he is looking to warming the seat beside Najib? Keeping his enemies so close I wonder if this Govt will even last its term. Nice, need to spice up Malaysian politics and create more uncertainties after 65 years of boring doldrum governments and predictable stability. Who cares as we’re in the age of YOLO and tiktok my friends!

Anyhow, I don’t really care how old someone gets the job as long as that person can execute something but so far all I seen from Mat Hassan is executing Khairy’s political ambition by muscling him out of his seat. Could he do worse than the worst by Mat Sabu, well we shall see as it also depends who would be the unnamed deputy so there is still hope it would not be the epic disaster that was during first Pakatan rule. At least I hope so.

I also hope with Anwar as PM would open the floodgates of US donations and sponsorships. If they can prop up their hegemony here with as much doles as they did with Afghanistan, we should be all the more happier with all those goodies for free. Not likely we gonna turn out like Afghanistan last year, right? Right??

Anyway I am happy we are no longer such a boring country anymore, and instability is the new norm.

  3. So much money had been used in propagating the kleptocrat and court cluster’scheme of things’, by using every available media coverage.

The result of PRU15 finally stopped all those nonsense.

Even Majlis Raja-raja also showed uneasiness regarding to the selection process of JAC.

Hopefully by now, Bah Midin already knows how to walk a more positive and healthy politic, and stop the grandiose using of money in bad mouthing political opponents.

  4. @Zek MR
Asking them to stop politicking is like asking politicians to stop lying to us. Will never happen. And why should he.

When Muhy rose to become PM, did PH give him slack and let him focus to handle the oncoming wave of Covid? Heck no! They immediately launch their Backdoor gomen, Kerajaan gagal campaigns trying to discredit him. If it weren’t for the months long MCO lockdown cooling things the political situation would have boiled over. Now the shoe is on their foot, they will have to suck up their comeuppances. Karma after all is a B—-.

I just hope I can still afford my Garrett’s popcorn watching this drama comedy unfolds. That is if PH have not completely sold off the country yet.
