SHAH ALAM: Back in May and June this year, Malaysian Defence posted on the tenders for the supply and delivery of separate items designated as the Army main asset and equipment for 2024. This includes laser range finders, tactical and logistical support bridges, skid steer loaders and night vision goggles.

Checks on the Eperolehan website today showed that the Letter of Award for the laser range finder, skid steer loaders and night vision goggles has been awarded.

In another post, I also updated the bid prices for these tenders therefore I am also putting them in this post. For the laser range finders:

For the laser range finders, 15 bidders took part with prices ranging from RM5.325 million to RM5.940 million. Based on the bids, I am guessing that the budget for the 75 laser range finders is RM5.5 million.

The contract for the 75 laser range finders, according to the Eperolehan, was awarded to Grayline Sdn Bhd with an LOA of RM5,700,600.00 million. Checks on the Grayline website showed that the product is likely the UK-made Hawke Endurance LRF.

As for the five steer skid loaders, SGT Ventures Sdn Bhd was awarded the RM4.5 million LOA. Unfortunately, the company website did not say anything on skid steer loaders but I am guessing that will be a Caterpillar or something similar.

As for the five skid-steer loader tender, 13 bids were recorded with the lowest bid was RM4.5 million while the highest was RM4.988 million. This means that each skid-steer loader will cost around RM1 million each. That said the skid-steer loaders on sale for commercial operators are equipped with various accessories or attachments allowing it to do various jobs.

Based on the above, SGT Ventures was the lowest bid from the 13 bidders.

For the 86 NVGs tender, Widad Skycore Sdn Bhd – which is headed by TS Ikmal Opat Abdullah of the Widad Business Group – was awarded the RM6,193,006.20 million LOA. Like SGT Ventures, the Skycore website did not reveal the NVGs to be supplied to the Army. The bid prices for the 86 NVGs:

The highest number of bids was for the 86 night-vision goggles tender with 36 recorded. The lowest bid was RM6.011 million while RM6.831 million was the highest. In the previous post, I estimated the winning bid should be RM2.3 million or lower. Boy, was I wrong!

The US made AGM Global NVG-50NW1.

The Army was supplied with two different NVGs previously, the US made AGM Global 50NW1 and the Thales Nellie. This post will be updated once the contracts for the tactical and logistic bridges are awarded.
