The two companies are both part of Turkish conglomerate Nurol Holdings, though FNSS is a joint venture with BAE Systems. Apart from Nurol Makina and FNSS, General Hafizuddeain also took the opportunity to visit the factories of Aselsan and Canik. Aselsan provided the RWS, BMS, navigation system and radios for the Panthera operated by the Malaysian contingent in Lebanon. Canik provided the 12.7mm HMG for the Panthera RWS.

Nurol Makina NMS 4X4 is likely to be a contender for the HMLTV programme. The NMS was displayed by Nadi Corporation/Badan Bas Sdn Bhd booth which won the contract to supply the Pantheras to the Malaysian UNIFIL contingent. Malaysian Defence picture.

  • Just to be clear, that Nadi corp/Badanbas and NADI (National Aerospace & Defence Industries) that controls AIROD and SMEO is two totally different entities

That Nadi Corp was created by privatizing MARA bus companies.

    IMO

    just cancel the 6x6 requirements

Get only 4x4 cavalry recce requirements, either the NMS and PARs would be good enough for the mission.

Pars 4x44 does have an additional advantage of being able to swim.

  • If we need more AFV, i would prefer to get more gempita instead of yet another different type of vehicle.

I don't think that we need to replace 150+ Condors with 3 different types of armored vehicles (HMLTV, HMAV & 6x6 AFV)

I would prefer all of 5 of our KAD Cavalry regiments to consist of a Hi-lo mix of
    a) Gempita AFVs
    b) 4x4 HMLTV - either the NMS or Pars 4x4 mainly as a recce vehicle.

  • Australian army Bushmasters 4x4 starting to be retired in 2025. The 8x8 ASLAVs should be good for recon. Spareparts still highly available. I am sure Deftech, Mildef or any of the better workshops can refurbish them. Will solve all the gaps that we have today.

  • I still believe that we shall have move on to self-propelled 120mm mortar, 105mm and 155mm artillery. Mobility and rapid shoot and scoot is vital for survival, especially against FPVs.

" Australian army Bushmasters 4ร—4 starting to be retired in 2025 "

Currently they have like 250+ Bushmasters more than what they actually need.

We could buy/get that and "rebuild" them locally to as new condition. There are plenty of companies in Malaysia that are experts in truck rebuilds. As usual this would only be realistically done if the total cost is significantly cheaper than buying a brand-new tarantula for example.

the Bushmaster engine is commercial grade CAT 3126E diesel engine (Tarantula has the latter C7 version of the same engine if not mistaken), and gearbox is from ZF

But, like the tarantula, i feel that an APC to carry 8-10pax does not need to weigh 14-15tons. I would go for the lighter armored KLTV, but with a redesigned cabin with just 2 doors + rear door. So with driver+pax up front, and 8pax in the rear (4 each side). That would weigh around 6tons, easier to drive around, and hopefully cheaper to manufacture too. From the side it would look something like this

Would be a good alternative to arm NGPVs with (alongside Simbad as *an* SAM because NGPV had none). Let the laksamanas live its second life as a gun patrol boat

    • There are no plans to arm the Laksamanas with missiles.

Speaking of self-propelled 120mm mortar I just learnt about the M120 Rak the other day, it would be awesome if the Rak mortar system or something similar could be installed on the Gempita as a variant

  • @ noname

RAK mortar system uses totally different ammo compared to what we use now.

that RAK 120mm mortar is smoothbore.

Tentera Darat 120mm mortars are rifled.
