SHAH ALAM: Another PGB Holder Promoted. In our previous post Malaysian Defence reported that Major General Mohd Halim Khalid has become the highest ranking PGB holder in military service. Mohd Halim who was awarded the PGB for his actions in Somalia – not the Bakara market incident – was promoted as the Fifth Division Commander on January 7 this year.
What is interesting is that Mohd Halim, who was the Sixth Brigade commander – headquartered in Sungei Petani, Kedah – was succeeded by another PGB holder, Khairul Anuar Aziz, who was also promoted as Brigadier General. BTDM reported on Khairul Anuar’s visit to the brigade’s MP unit on Feb. 11.

The last time we saw the Brigadier out in the open was back in 2017 when he was given the duties as the Malbat 850-5 commander with the rank of a Colonel.
Khairul Anuar was awarded the PGB in 1994 for his involvement in the Bakara Market rescue operation, better known by the book and movie, Blackhawk Down together with another officer with the 19th RMR, Juraimy Aripin.
I have no idea where the Colonel (his last known rank) is currently (he was formerly the Chief of Staff) of 4th Mechanised Brigade or whether or not he is still in service. Hopefully we will see him soon in BTDM.
